Acacia Bay is a gorgeous, quiet community located on the western shores of Lake Taupo’s Tapuaeharuru Bay. Its positioning makes it an ideal location for Lake Taupo accommodation that is easily accessible and close to popular attractions yet set away from central Taupo where the hotels, traffic and people can be too much for some.
The Flying Trout Boutique Lodge can be found at 2/41 Mapara Road, which is on the hill overlooking the lake. As you begin to drive north out of Taupo, heading towards Huka Falls, you pass over a bridge that crosses the Waikato River. Directly after this bridge, turn left onto Norman Smith Street and follow that down to Acacia Bay Road. After heading south-west on Acacia Bay Road for around four minutes, you’ll approach Besley Park. Turn right up Mapara Road and you’ll find the Flying Trout about 400m along on the left-hand side.
